About David Tate

David Tate is an Associate Director at Project Advance overseeing the Forensic Science, Chemistry, and Undergraduate Science Research programs.

After completing his master’s in forensic science from the University of New Haven he moved here to Syracuse where he worked for more than fifteen years as a latent print examiner at the ISO-17025 accredited criminalistics laboratory at the Onondaga County Center for Forensic Sciences in Syracuse. He has experience testifying as an expert witness in both the State of New York and in U.S. Federal Court.  Additionally, he has been an adjunct instructor with the Forensic and National Security Institute at Syracuse University since 2007 where he has taught Introduction to Latent Prints and Advanced Latent Prints.

Further interests include learning about mushroom foraging and identification, the continued study of Abraham Lincoln, exploring the works of J.R.R. Tolkien, riding (racing) bicycles, hiking, and canoeing. He lives in the Split Rock area of Syracuse with his wife Ashley and their two children.
