SUID Information

About Your Syracuse University ID Number

You are officially registered as a part-time, non-matriculated student in the Project Advance section of your Syracuse University course(s). This entitles you to an SU ID number. Your ID number is unique to you, and it should not be shared with anyone.

Your SU ID number is for academic purposes only. It allows you to access the SU libraries online, at

Your SU ID number can help you gain privileges at local college libraries and will identify you to representatives of other universities. If a college library seems reluctant to extend loan privileges to you, ask your principal, teacher, or other school official for help. Your SU ID number cannot be used for admission to athletic or social activities at Syracuse University.

When you select a licensed resource (e.g., a database, e-journal, e-book, etc.), you may be prompted to authenticate as a currently enrolled student, faculty, or staff member. EZproxy automatically determines whether login information is necessary.

If prompted, enter:

  • Your SU ID: enter all nine digits without spaces or dashes, then add either a 0 or 1 to the end.
  • Your last name in lower case letters.

NOTE: If you are a Jr., Sr., II, III, IV, etc., or if you have a hyphenated last name, and you are having trouble authenticating, contact the E.S. Bird Library at 315.443.2093 or libref@syr.edu to verify how your last name appears in our database.

Once authenticated, you will be automatically transferred to the resource you selected.
