Summer Institute in New York City Schedule (Coming Soon)
Overview
We are excited to announce this rare chance to receive course training and high-level professional development without the added travel to Syracuse for our downstate and out-of-state partner schools. The 2026 Summer Institute in New York City will feature training for EEE 370: Introduction to Entrepreneurship and WRT 105: Studio I: Practices of Academic Writing.
Summer Institute training is led by Syracuse University faculty who teach these courses on campus and oversee their implementation in partner high schools. Summer Institute workshops focus on:
- Mastering course content
- Incorporating the latest trends in instruction
- Adapting university-designed courses for high school schedules and settings
Designed specifically with our downstate partners in mind, Summer Institute in NYC provides increased accessibility and flexibility while delivering exceptional value. While a registration fee is required for the NYC-based workshops, schools may realize savings without the travel, lodging and meal expenses associated with the week-long training on the Syracuse University main campus.

Workshops
Summer Institute workshops prepare select high school teachers to offer Syracuse University courses for credit. To qualify, teachers must be identified by their schools as prospective adjunct instructors and must have academic credentials that meet the requirements set for adjuncts by the appropriate Syracuse University department.
Participants are introduced to the course-specific curriculum, pedagogy, assessment standards and practices, syllabus, textbooks, and student learning and support resources, (e.g., library resources) and they become active members of the academic community shaping course practice.
Following the workshop, participants submit a final prospectus, which includes the syllabus and related explanatory materials that demonstrates how the college course will be adapted to the high school schedule.
To gain Syracuse University certification, teachers must attend all sessions and successfully complete all requirements of the SUPA Summer Institute workshop.
Graduate Credit
High school teachers are eligible to receive graduate credit and/or CTLE credit (NYS teachers) for their Summer Institute in New York City workshop at a reduced rate of $70 per credit. Form for 2026 will be available soon!
